McCarthy, Lebit, Crystal & Liffman Co., LPA is pleased to announce that Douglas J. (DJ) Carter has successfully passed the Ohio Bar Exam and has joined the firm’s Transactions group as an Associate attorney.
DJ began his legal career with McCarthy Lebit as a law clerk in 2025 while attending law school. During that time, he gained exposure to a variety of the firm’s practice areas and worked alongside attorneys on a range of legal matters, providing him with a well-rounded introduction to the practice of law. That experience helped shape his focus on transactional law, with an emphasis on the legal work that supports business relationships, commercial activity, and strategic transactions.
As an addition to the Transactions group, DJ’s work will span the Real Estate & Construction, Business & Corporate, and Mergers & Acquisitions practice groups. He will assist with a variety of transactional matters involving commercial real estate, business and entity formation, corporate restructuring, commercial contracts, financing, and mergers and acquisitions. This will include supporting clients through transactions and helping address the legal considerations involved in acquiring, selling, leasing, financing, and restructuring businesses and commercial properties.

DJ earned his bachelor’s degree from Miami University and his Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. During law school, he was actively involved in student organizations and legal scholarship, serving as Treasurer of Delta Theta Phi, a professional law fraternal organization, and as an Associate Editor and Senior Editor of the Journal of International Law.
