Our Commitment to Corporate Responsibility & Inclusive Opportunity

McCarthy Lebit values the contributions brought to the firm by a workforce that is diverse in background, life experience, and cultural perspective and is committed to fostering inclusion with an equal opportunity to succeed. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is encapsulated in the following firm objectives:

We maintain a collegial and inclusive culture where all persons are valued, respected, and given equitable opportunities for advancement.

We implement policies to recruit, train, and grow a diverse team of attorneys, paralegals, and professional staff. Furthermore, our mentorship program ensures that associates of all backgrounds are supported and encouraged as they work towards their professional goals.

Our leadership team is strongest when it integrates empowered perspectives and strengths. The Women’s Initiative Network champions the professional development, business interests, and well-being of our female attorneys and promotes their advancement as leaders at the firm.

We rally behind worthwhile causes, investing our time, energy, and talents in the enrichment of our communities. We are proud to serve numerous charities and non-profits in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio as board members, volunteers, and sponsors.

Women's Initiative Network

McCarthy Lebit is proud to champion the women in the firm through the Women’s Initiative Network (WIN). WIN was organized to promote the well-being and professional development of women leaders in our firm, in the legal field, and throughout Ohio’s business community. Through collaborative efforts, the Network focuses on the following strategic objectives.

Commitment to Equal Opportunity in Hiring, Retaining, & Promoting Women Attorneys

As an Equal Opportunity Employer, McCarthy Lebit ensures that gender differences have no impact on our hiring and promotion decisions. In addition, the Women’s Initiative Network actively contributes by making policy recommendations that support expectant or recent mothers in our attorney ranks, including provisions for flexible work arrangements.

Nurturing Relationships

The Women’s Initiative Network provides mentorship and encourages the development of meaningful relationships among our women attorneys. We believe that, by providing support and guidance, we can empower our female professionals to become leaders within our firm and the legal industry.

Collaborative Growth

The Women’s Initiative Network fosters business development and an inclusive environment that addresses work-life balance and attrition prevention by providing a forum for all attorneys to share experiences, resources, and ideas. WIN sponsors local events that connect women professionals, clients, and the community while supporting organizations such as Women in Finance, the Association for Corporate Growth – Cleveland Women in Transactions, Saint Joseph Academy, and the Women in Law Section of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. WIN actively engages with organizations focused on advancing women in law and beyond.

Philanthropy & Community Activism

Vibrant public service and philanthropy have been part of McCarthy Lebit’s mission since its inception. Today, the McCarthy Lebit Foundation is proud to support the admirable work of numerous charities and non-profits in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.

The firm supports the individual interests of our staff. All our employees are encouraged to be active in their local communities and charitable interests. At the firm level, McCarthy Lebit is involved in four primary charities and dozens of community events throughout the year. Each year, the firm’s attorneys and staff vote for worthy causes, philanthropies, and charities that serve our community as the benefactors of our efforts. These organizations have included the American Heart Association, InMotion (support for those with Parkinson’s Disease), Cleveland Food Bank’s “Harvest for Hunger,” Providence House (a crisis nursery that advocates for child abuse prevention and family preservation), The Gathering Place (provides support and education for victims and families living with cancer), ORT-Ohio (provides access to education programs in under-resourced communities around the world).

In 2019, the firm earned Harvest for Hunger’s Edmond V. Worley Award for our sustained commitment and leadership in the organization’s annual fundraising campaign.
