It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our esteemed colleague and partner, Nicholas (Nick) Oleski, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, in a tragic car accident. Nick was not only a great lawyer, but a valued colleague and a treasured friend.
Nick began his career at McCarthy Lebit as a law clerk, and upon graduation from law school, quickly established himself as a standout Associate. He earned a promotion to Principal at the earliest possible juncture for consideration. Nick was a passionate advocate and loved being a trial lawyer. At a time when few cases go to trial, he would proudly share that he had tried cases in nearly every kind of court at every level. Nick played a meaningful role in many significant cases involving criminal defense matters and commercial litigation. Nick tried more than a dozen cases to verdict and argued appeals throughout the state of Ohio and in the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Nick will be remembered as a “lawyer’s lawyer” whose enthusiasm for the profession and his clients was evident in everything that he did.
Nick earned his J.D. from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law after earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University.
McCarthy Lebit extends our deepest condolences to Nick’s family and loved ones. He will be missed by all and remembered always.
