Overview

Michael O'Neil is an Associate attorney at McCarthy Lebit, with a practice focus in the firm’s Employment group. He assists clients with a wide range of workplace matters, ranging from wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims to reviewing and drafting employment and separation agreements.

Beginning his tenure at McCarthy Lebit as a law clerk, Michael collaborated closely with attorneys across multiple practice areas, gaining valuable firsthand experience. Through his work, he discovered that employment law was the area where his skills and interests could be most effectively applied to make a meaningful impact.

Michael provides strategic guidance to clients on a variety of employment matters, with the majority of his practice devoted to representing individuals in wrongful termination claims involving discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. He also handles employment-related disputes concerning wage hour laws, including matters under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), as well as breach of contract and restrictive covenant issues.

In addition to his litigation work, Michael advises individual and corporate clients on employment and separation agreements. He focuses on delivering practical, results-oriented solutions that help clients navigate and resolve challenging workplace issues effectively while navigating complex employment regulations.

Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH, and went on to obtain his Juris Doctor from Cleveland State University College of Law. During his time in law school, Michael was a member of the Cleveland State University College of Law Moot Court Team. Additionally, he received CALI Excellence for the Future High A Awards in Employment Discrimination and Labor Law.
