Matthew Waters is a Principal Patent Attorney in the Intellectual Property practice group at McCarthy Lebit. Matthew's focal area of practice spans across all facets of patents and trademarks. Furthermore, his legal expertise encompasses a wide range of services which includes filing and prosecution of applications, addressing issues of infringement and validity, conducting right-to-use assessments, performing thorough prior art searches and evaluations, as well as providing general counseling and opinions on matters as they relate to the intricacies of intellectual property law.
Additionally, he possesses a deep knowledge and a keen interest in various areas of specialization. These specialized areas include enamels, mechanical arts, electrical arts, household tools, kitchen tools, ceramics, polymers, cosmetics, adhesives, and associated processing and chemical matters. His extensive experience in these domains allows him to offer valuable insights and strategic guidance to clients seeking the protection and commercialization of their unique intellectual property assets.
After graduating from Baldwin-Wallace, where he obtained a bachelor's degree, Matthew received his Juris Doctor degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He then went on to serve as an assistant Cuyahoga County prosecutor for nine years. In this role, he handled over one hundred high-level criminal trials and over thirty appeals.
